Studio Sessions: Kimberly Ruth

0

Hello, and welcome to Studio Sessions with our guest this episode, Kimberly Ruth.

Kimberly earned a BA in journalism and a BFA in photography from SUNY New Paltz in 2008, and an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston in 2012. She creates projects that seek to expose the process behind things, and this theme takes shape in many different forms. In one piece she has a couple re-enact a scene from a movie in which the characters are pretending to be someone else, exposing multiple levels of artifice within a single moment. In another she creates a piece using footage of immigrant farm workers, and in addition to exposing the source of our food, also reveals information about the company that produced the footage she found, which sells for thousands of dollars per segment.

Join me as Kimberly describes the topics her work involves, and explains what she hopes her pieces bring to light.
