Studio Sessions: Jessica Borusky

0
Hello and welcome to Studio Sessions. In this episode, I’ll be speaking with Jessica Borusky.

Jessica earned her BA in visual and performance art from the New College of Florida in 2009. Jessica places her body at the center of her work, creating pieces that explore and test the limits of her flesh and bone. Some of her earlier pieces involved a lot of physical endurance, such as a piece where she holds a shoulder-stand yoga pose for as long as she possibly can, or a performance in which she twists and contorts her body around and through a plank of wood with a small hole cut in it. In one of her most recent works she creates a performance piece involving a satirical critique of a posture grid, a device meant to normalize one’s body and posture by identifying flaws and aberrations.

Join me as Jessica discusses how her performances have evolved throughout the years, and the ideas contained within each piece she does.
