Because of the daunting exchange of dollars for euros, for the first time in fifteen years, Charles Giuliano opted not to make the annual trip to Europe. Instead he and his wife, Astrid, opted to travel to the American South West. What resulted was a two week, 2,000 miles loop from Vegas to Santa Fe and Taos and then back to fly out of Vegas.

In addition to these three essays, he plans to write other pieces on this phenomenal experience. Part of the mandate of the trip was to meet with Native American artist, Jaune Quick to See Smith, who he plans to show and bring to Suffolk University during winter of 2006. Already there are plans to return next summer to visit the Biennial of Site Santa Fe and to conduct studio visits with the intention of organizing an exhibition of emerging Native American artists.
