Kickstarter Update

0
Along with publishing our blog posts, conversing over the social media, and setting up the party at the BCA and the talks at MIT, it feels like we've been constantly hitting refresh on the kickstarter since we emerged from our slumber 11 days ago! We were funded so quickly due to the overwhelming generosity of our readers. We try to measure our success in various discernible ways-- clicks, unique visitors or maybe facebook likes-- but really we can point to how few days it took to reach our goal as the clincher.

You've amazed us, and we'd like to take a minute to thank you for your altruism.

We've already talked about who helped make this happen here, so now we'd like to let you in on a few insights and trends that we've noticed.

Someone who just goes by Chris pushed us over our goal. Thank you Chris!

133 people have kicked us forward.
63 people have opted for the tote bag.
The average pledge amount is at a whopping $68.
There were 13 people who opted for our very rare printed BR&S book (there are two left!).
More than 1 in 3 people got to our kickstarter from Facebook, same as from our website.

Without seeming boorish, the reality is that we will not be taking in all the money that you see on our kickstarter. The process itself costs a bit of money, either because the fabulous rewards we have available need to have their costs covered, or because kickstarter, the bank, etc skim a few % points off of your generosity. Our reality is that we need you to be as generous as you can. The support we receive will go back into BR&S's various artists, designers, and writers in real ways. We can't afford to pay our bloggers yet, but we will be paying the writers in our journal. Artists with which we are working will be receiving honorariums for their work. And the list goes on of the people we'd like to pay.

When the new editors decided to take on the responsibility of BR&S, we resolved to pay as many of the writers, artists, and designers as we could. It's going to be tough, but with your help, we will reach that goal.

Our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. We truly appreciate your help and are pulling off this relaunch successfully in large part through your generosity and support.
